Prayer Based on Psalm 29

Monday Psalm 29: v 1-2

“Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendour of his holiness.”
Heavenly Father, we come to worship and praise You for You alone are worthy of all our praise. You are above all other beings, awesome in might and power and transcendent in holiness. You are great and greatly to be praised, the creator and sustainer of all. You are sovereign, majestic, awe-inspiring and eternal. Today we join with the voices of earth and heaven to praise Your glorious name. Amen.

Tuesday Psalm 29: 3-5

“The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. “
Heavenly Father, we praise You that we can hear Your voice in its many tones and accents. We thank You that we can experience something of Your power and strength and might as we look in awe on the world You have created, the surging waves of the sea, the mighty oaks and strong tall cedar trees and in the thundering of a storm. We praise You our unshakeable God.

Wednesday Psalm 29: 6-8

“He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the Lord strikes     with flashes of lightning. The voice of the Lord shakes the desert; the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.”
Heavenly Father, please help us today to hear Your voice above all others that call out to us. Help us to see Your strength, might and power and to recognise Your great glory and majesty. Thank You that You are interested in each one of us. Please attune our ears to hear Your voice so that we may live humbly and walk wisely and come to You in reverent worship. Amen.

Thursday Psalm 29: 10-11 “The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”
Heavenly Father, we recognise how much we need Your strength today and every day. We pray today for strength to persevere when our work seems hard and tedious, strength to deal with disappointments graciously and to press on even when we feel discouraged. We thank You that You are faithful to equip all whom You call into Your service and that You know our limitations, we pray that in the power of the Holy Spirit You would provide the skills and graces that we need to fulfil Your purpose in our lives and to stand firm knowing Your grace is sufficient for Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Amen.

Friday Psalm 29: 10-11

“The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”
Heavenly Father, we thank You today for the many times we have received from You the strength to continue and  peace in our hearts. We pray that You would continue to provide us with Your perfect peace that passes man’s understanding and that our peace in You will never be shaken.  Thank You that our strength and peace is in You alone and that we have Your peace in our hearts for Jesus said, “My peace I leave with you, let not your hearts be troubled.” Today may we share Your peace with others. Amen.

Saturday Psalm 29

Heavenly Father, we pray today that You would keep the eyes of our hearts firmly fixed on You for we know that nothing can shake the one that is founded and secured on Christ, the solid Rock.  We thank You for the promise of perfect peace that You leave with all who know and love You as Lord and Saviour. Help us we pray to be still and know that You are God, our God in whom we trust. Amen.
